MAPP Therapy History
Modern Athlete was born out of Cortni Emanuel’s personal journey and passion for helping others overcome obstacles through sports.
Growing up with a professional athlete as a father, Cortni saw firsthand how sports could shape character, build resilience, and teach powerful life lessons grounded in values like love, patience, and self-control. These early experiences, combined with her own time as an athlete and later as a mental health professional, inspired her to create a space where athletes could grow not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Modern Athlete Peak Performance Therapy (MAPP Therapy) exists to help athletes face life’s challenges, enhance performance, discover their purpose, and live with integrity, faith, and resilience.
Athletic Achievements
Cortni Emanuel is no stranger to high performance. As an All-American and standout Division I student-athlete at the University of Georgia, she became one of the fastest players in NCAA softball history. Known for her game-changing speed, leadership, and relentless work ethic, Cortni earned multiple All-SEC honors, was a three time USA player of the year finalist, set NCAA records, and left a lasting legacy both on and off the field. She also received the NFCA Golden Shoe Award, was one of fifty players invited to tryout for the USA team, a two-time participant in the Women’s College World Series, and was drafted by the Florida Pride in the 2018 NPF USSA Draft.
Life After Sports
But her passion didn’t stop at personal success. Cortni transformed her journey into a mission: helping others rise. She is the founder of Modern Athlete Peak Performance Therapy (MAPP Therapy), a mental health practice that equips athletes to grow mentally, emotionally, and spiritually so they can perform at their best and live with purpose.
Cortni is also the author of Chasing Fire, which is about Faith, purpose, and life after sports. Additionally, she is an assistant softball coach at Houston Christian University, and a neurotechnician at the Houston Neuroscience Brain Center, where she specializes in neurofeedback and brain-based performance tools.
Whether she's coaching, counseling, or creating space for healing, Cortni is committed to helping others become who they were created to be.

Cortni holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology, a Master’s of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sports Administration from the University of Georgia, and a 2nd Master’s of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Houston Christian University completed in 2024.
